The Church of St. Nicholas
The Parochial Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas was built during the period 1733-1737 with elements of provincial Baroque. The iconostasis was erected in 1757, and carvings were sculpted by the Osijek-born sculptor Firtler. The church was rebuilt and redecorated several times, such as for the addition of the chapel of St. George the Martyr, and widening the space provided for the Serbian ‘Javor’ choir. The last significant change to the church dates from 1935.
Old church books and documents dating from as early as 1732 are kept in a room in the church tower, right next to the place of the choir.
