The Chapel of St. Rocco
This is located in Županijska Street, the main street of Novi Vukovar. The chapel is in great harmony with the Eltz Castle, although it was built nine years before the castle and is not an integral part of the Eltz complex.
Its building in 1740 was financed by Antun Pöhr de Rosenthall, and it was intended as a testimonial chapel as well as a church for the German minority living in that part of the town. It was known for its painting of St. Rocco, St. Sebastian and St. Rosalia, said to be a protection against the Black Death, and which was located on the altar. The original Baroque body of the chapel was reconstructed and widened in 1805, when it received a Classicist side oratory and vestry, along with a picturesque belfry covered in shingles. Later reconstructions followed in 1858 and 1904, as well as after World War II.
The most recent post-war reconstruction was financed by Šibenik-Knin county.
